Everytime I want something so bad that I want to scream "YES WANT," I will instead post something more or less intelligible to the blog with "covetables" in the title. Yes, I know that "covetables" isn't a word (update: Ann Taylor uses "covetables" for their must haves so I actually didn't just make this word up!).
Moving on! I love my camera. Not too long ago, my old, used, silver Canon Rebel died and so I bought a replacement in the form of a new Canon Rebel XTi. I love the XTi. Because it was slightly old at the time of purchase, I got it for a decent price new. I also got a lovely 5 year warranty on it so that if it ever gets dusty or defective, I can get it repaired. It's a great camera. It's small enough to come with me every day and large enough to "look official," as some of my friends like to put it. It's somewhat lighter than my old one too, which will help when I buy heavy high optical quality glass to put on it (but that's for another edition of covetables…).
Despite my love for my camera, I have my eye on a newer model. And, when it comes to photography, there's nothing wrong with having cameras in multiples — in fact, it is preferred! God forbid you get caught shoot a wedding with one camera and that camera fails! Well friends, that's all the rationale I need to consider buying the Canon 5D Mark II. It is a great camera and it also shoots amazing HD video. Check out the trailer for this Sundance film that was shot with this camera:

Update as of 6/2010: Also, turns out the Canon 5d Mark II was used to film the intro video to NBC's Saturday Night Live and the season finale of the popular television show House. In other words: ZOMG, I STILL WANT THIS CAMERA!!!!!!!!!.
